The Russian Speakers Society is proud to present the Russian Houston Theater returning to Austin! Production “The Pilgrim’s Road” is the concert style program composed of the poetry by the world-famous Russian-American poet and essayist, Nobel Prize winner Joseph Brodsky. The composition includes the fine examples and masterpieces of Joseph Brodsky poetry both of its early period covering poet’s life in his native St. Petersburg, and his poems written mostly in the United States after he was expelled in 1972 from the Soviet Union. The background of the composition is the music by Ludwig van Beethoven and Johann Sebastian Bach. The plot of the program follows the various components of Brodsky’s poetics: love lyrics, philosophical lyrics and the biblical theme in the poet’s work.

About the performers:

Alex Iyerusalimskiy is the author of the play-script, stage director and leading performer of the production. Alex was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. He immigrated to the US in 1995. His background is engineering and he holds PhD in Naval Architecture. Alex has fairly long history of performing with various Russian stage companies in US and Canada. He has joined the Russian Houston Theater in 2007 where played in Russian and world classic theatrical plays. In 2015 Alex has formed a small group of actors and musicians and began to compose poetical-musical programs to perform them on the concert stage. The poetry production “Pilgrim’s road” is his fifth work of this style.

Vyacheslav Nadvoretskiy is the assistant musical director for the production and performer of all music pieces included in the show as the pianist, guitar player and vocalist. He also composed one of the song’s music. Vyacheslav Nadvoretskiy was born in Moscow, Russia and lives in Houston, Texas for last 16 years. His background is electronic engineering. He holds a PhD in Physics. Vyacheslav is gifted musician playing many instruments. He has been for last 15 year one of the organizers, host, and performer of semiannual Russian folk music festival “KSP South”. Vyacheslav has joined the Russian Houston Theater in 2008 where played together with Alex Iyerusalimskiy. He was involved in producing and performed in all concert programs by Alex Iyerusalimskiy

Anastasia Belova performs one of key songs in the program accompanied by the guitar of Vyacheslav Nadvoretskiy. She was born in Moscow, Russia and lives in Houston, Texas for last 16 years with her husband Vyacheslav Nadvoretskiy and their three children. She is a psychologist by education. Anastasia is a vocalist with the wide range of singing from folk and pop music to romance. She is a regular performer of semiannual Russian folk music festival “KSP South”. She was involved in producing and performed in four of five programs by Alex Iyerusalimskiy.

Natalya Iyerusalimskaya is the assistant director for the group dealing with costumes, stage set, and provides assistance advisory to her husband Alex Iyerusalimskiy in composing and directing the programs. She was born in the city of Khabarovsk, Russia. Her background is a computer science and programming. Over last 16 years she was involved in the Russian theaters in Houston and Calgary, Canada both as an assistant director and actress. She works with the group at the rehearsals and was assistant director for all five programs by Alex Iyerusalimskiy.
